Random Moments

Self Portrait of the Luthier in Wood.
I think he's captured the essence.

Wheeling my Dad into the nursing home for respite care,
Ten Year Old: "What do people do in respite care, Mum?"
Moi: "Well, they have a rest."
Ten Year Old: "Yeah, like rest in peace .... oh no, that's not right, is it?"

My daughter has christened her new doll "Rosie Clackers". Pretty!
I guess it could have been worse.

Specialization

“A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects.”Robert A. Heinlein ( Quote from Quote Vadis my new favourite web site quotevadis.com)

I can't set a bone, but I would have a crack (get it!?) if required and I am not sure what 'conning' a ship is but the year of me is turning out to be the busiest year I have had for years and has almost nothing to do with me. All good there and as it should be.

J turns 10 on Saturday and is off to a new schoolwhere he has to wear a tie. Sacha is full time at school and has taken up the cello with his usual, slightly mad, obsessive zeal and his word of the week is poohole. Sophie is at kinder 3 days and is in utterly in love with her ballet teacher. The Luthier has work out the ying-yang, insomnia and has just started his own chamber music group.

Moi, j'apprends le francais.

As for the little sprite in the pic, who knows what busy-ness she might get up to next?
